On Sunday the 8th of September, I'm riding in the RideToStopSuicide Kinglake Victoria.
Raising awareness of men's mental health and suicide prevention, you can help make this event a success and support this meaningful cause.
My ride will be an Adventure Ride covering mixed terrain, (no single track) you'll need to be self sufficient. Expect similar terrain to what we've ridden on previous rides.
The route is approx 280kms.
Start: Arrive at 8:30 am for 9am departure.
United Service Station, 2 Kinglake-Glenburn Rd, Kinglake VIC 3763
Lunch: Reefton Hotel.
Finish: Approx 5pm, Mt Evelyn.
I hope you'll join me on My RideToStopSuicide.
Future updates will be appear below.
18/07/2019 update from Wilko.
This ride is a mix of bitumen and mostly main dirt roads, if you've not had a lot of experience on dirt, do not fear, it's a good ride to get a bit more dirt time with no pressure.
There are 2 bakeries in Kinglake if you wish to get breakfast before the ride.
The total loop is 282kms, you can fuel here or at the Shell at Buxton, (approx 80kms after start location)
We will make our way to Buxton via Toolangi state forest and black range state forest, then continue past Marysville to Cumberland Junction, (depending on time there is a dirt route we can take also) from CJ we'll head to Reefton Hotel for lunch.
After lunch we will head to Powelltown and to our final destination for the day, Mt Evelyn.
There will be a Rider Route (.gpx file) supplied for those that register for the ride.
05/09/2019 update from Wilko.
Current status of the ride: On (see description below)
With rain predicted over the coming days and the route being mostly dirt and clay, we'd like to avoid situations that could lead to personal injury.
I'll be checking the weather and will go for a look at the route Saturday to check and advise conditions.
Please check back here and on the Ride360 facebook page for updates late Saturday, all registered riders will also receive an email.
Wilko has checked the trails and obviously it's a bit wet in places, but the ride is going ahead.
There is still a 100% forecast of rain, so we'll send all registered riders a phone number you can check and confirm in the morning if in doubt.
